About Event

There is an increasing demand for safety critical engineered systems to inculcate humanlike-intelligence and autonomy through adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) models, including data-driven decision making capabilities based on machine-learning (ML) algorithms and techniques. This demand is exponentially increasing the complexity in the design, verification, and validation of such safety critical intelligent systems that are subjected to regulations and certifications. Engineering such systems requires an assurance on the behavior and performance of the system, and may require new approaches in arriving at the system design, in ensuring that the system is ready for operations, and in engineering safe and effective human interaction with intelligent systems. Challenges include new failure modes (e.g. negative side effects, unsafe exploration), unpredictability (e.g. performance on unseen data), trust and robustness (e.g. explainable decisions and behavior). This symposium aims to bring together experts from multiple sectors such as aerospace, automotive, industrial automation and healthcare to share their research findings and experiences on various challenges pertaining to adoption of AI-ML in safety critical systems, including implications on regulations and certification.

The Aeronautical Society of India - Bangalore Branch

The Aeronautical Society of India (AeSI) is the principal Society in India serving the professions in areas of aeronautics, aerospace and aviation. Its stated primary purpose is to “advance the sciences, engineering, technology and management of aerospace, aeronautics and aviation and to foster and promote the professionalism of those engaged in these pursuits”.

The Aeronautical Society of India, a professional body devoted to advancement of aeronautical sciences and engineering in India was founded in 1948. India's First Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was the first Patron-in-Chief of the Society. Over the Years Dr S. Radhakrishnan, Smt. Indira Gandhi, Shri Rajiv Gandhi,    Shri P.V. Narasimha Rao, were the successive Patrons-in-Chief of the Society.

INCOSE India Chapter

The International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) is a professional society for Systems Engineers founded to develop and disseminate the interdisciplinary principles and practices that enable the realization of successful systems. INCOSE India is a chartered chapter of INCOSE in India, serving as the primary centre for "INCOSE life" for members in India. The chapter serves to provide a forum for networking with systems engineers from government, industry and academia in India.
